SOME LOCAL MISSIONS WE SUPPORT

The Compass | The Dam | Mississauga Life Centre | The Open Door

The Compass
Food Bank and Drop-In Centre
Realizing the urgent need of those experiencing severe economic and social challenges, ten Christian churches in the Lorne Park/Clarkson area formed The Compass to address this serious and growing social concern within the community. The Compass provides relief to people struggling with life's challenges. Through the building of relationships within the community and the member churches, we offer both practical and spiritual support. The Compass drop-in centre offers coffee, free groceries and household supplies on a voucher system, a safe place to visit, and prayer support when requested.
For more information, please visit their web page at: www.thecompass.ca, or call on 905-274-9309. Please click here for Thanksgiving Food Drive List of items that are especially needed.

The Dam
Youth drop-in Centre
The Dam is a community program for youth (13-19yrs) located in the Meadowvale Town Centre and at 1400 Plains Rd East, Burlington.  All teens are welcome, free of charge, to come to the drop-in and participate in the programs, regardless of race, creed or colour. The drop-in provides a positive, healthy, encouraging and neutral turf environment that is drug-free and alcohol-free. It’s a safe place where youth can hang out. It is the hope that the drop-in is a dam that stops the flow of teens from becoming homeless street kids in the downtown core of Toronto. It is the goal to be the friends of youth and a resource to help them stay at home, in school and in the community.
