Saga Day camp operates for seven weeks during the summer, and is run by Chartwell Baptist Church, which is a non-profit, charitable organization, who have been providing quality summer programming since 2005.

Our full day, week long sessions are for students who have completed grades 1-7. Day camp is for children who just completed grades 1-4 and Spin (middle school) camp is for campers who just completed grades 5-7.  Camp sessions operate for 7 weeks during the months of July and August at Chartwell Baptist Church. Summer 2017 kicks of July 3rd and runs until August 17th.
Campers are involved in numerous activities including a weekly swim, arts & crafts, music & singing, active games, and a host of special events that coordinate with our theme weeks. Field trips are scheduled most weeks and may include the Ontario Science Centre, Bronte Creek Provincial Park and Slip n' Slide days.

VOLUNTEERS
Each summer we rely on people willing to volunteer one or more weeks of their summer to make camp happen.  We are seeking camp volunteers who are creative, outgoing, responsible and want to make a difference this summer. Volunteers should love being outside, not be afraid to act silly, enjoy being with children and want to have an unforgettable summer!

There are several ways you can volunteer this Summer:
High School Volunteer: Students who have completed grade 8-12 can complete volunter hours and lead groups of kids.
Adult Volunteers: We are looking for people who can teach skills, lead games, teach lessons, prepare snacks or spend time with kids this summer.

Each individual must be able to provide a Criminal Reference Check (if over 16).  Also certification in the Plan to Protect® child safety workshop is made available through Saga during the training session we run for all volunteers in June.  CLICK HERE for the 2017 Volunteer Application.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
My child does not live in the L5J postal code, can he or she still can come to Day and/or Spin camp?
Because we are a community camp we give priority for day and spin camp only (NOT sports camp) to children who reside in the L5J area code and/or those who attend year round programs (Sunday and/or kids club).  We will take registrations for those who do not fit this criteria and these campers will be put on a wait list which will open up in the beginning of June.  Any avaliable spots on this date will be open on a first come first serve basis to campers on the wait list until all spots are filled.  You will be contacted either way on, or just after this date, to know if your child has a spot on camp.  This is done every week so your camper(s) may be accepted on some weeks and not others.
Please note that this does not apply to sports camp so any campers in grades 2-7 may choose to attend sports camp to guarantee a spot.
My child has just finished Kindergarten.  Can they come to camp?
Unfortunately we are only able to provide camp programming for children who have completed grade one.  While we would love to provide programming for kindergarten students, we do not have the funding required to provide the staff/camper ratios required for kindergarten students.
How early in the morning can I drop my child off?
Registration begins at 9:30am each morning and there will be supervised drop-off from 9:30 - 10am.  Before 9:30am we offer Extended Care from 7:30am (and from 3:30-5:30pm).  For and additional fee you can sign your child up for Extended Care.

What type of activities do the campers do during the day?
Each week at Saga Day Camp is filled with a variety of activities.
Campers are involved in numerous activities including a weekly swim, arts & crafts, music & singing, active games, bible lessons, cooking, science and a host of special events that coordinate with our theme weeks. Field trips are scheduled most weeks and may include the Ontario Science Centre, Bronte Creek Provincial Park and Slip n' Slide days.

How old do I need to be to volunter at Camp?
We have volunteer of all different ages, starting with Junior Volunteers who have completed grade 8.  We are always looking for high school stuents, university or college students, or even parents who would be willing to give one of their weeks of the summer to volunteer at camp (you can volunteer for more than one week if you want).

What grades are campers who attend day camp and spin camp?
Day camp is offered for campers who have just completed grades 1-4 and Spin camp is offered for campers who have just completed grades 5-7.  Both camps (in addition to sports camp) are being offered for all 7 weeks of summer programming.

Do all of the staff have police checks?
Saga requires police checks for all staff who are over 16 years of age.  We also do reference checks for anyone who is in a leadership capacity at Saga, whether they are staff or volunteer.

Can my child just attend the day trips?
We believe it is important that we get to know your children before we take them away on a Day Trip, and so for that reason if your child has not been attending Saga before they go on a trip, they will not be permitted to participate in the trip.

Can I get a refund if my child cannot attend Camp?
Please give us 3 weeks notice if you're child will not be attending the week they are registered in order to receive your money back. After 3 weeks, no money will be refunded, although your child can transfer weeks up until the week before camp.
