VOLUNTEERS
Each summer we rely on people willing to volunteer one or more weeks of their summer to make camp happen. We are seeking camp volunteers who are creative, outgoing, responsible and want to make a difference this summer. Volunteers should love being outside, not be afraid to act silly, enjoy being with children and want to have an unforgettable summer! To volunteer at Sports Camp, you must be finished Grade 9.

There are several ways you can volunteer this Summer:
High School Volunteer: Students who have completed grade 8-12 can complete volunter hours, teach skills and lead groups of kids.
Adult Volunteers: We are looking for people who can teach skills, lead games, or spend time with kids this summer.

Each individual must be able to provide a Criminal Reference Check (if over 16).  Also certification in the Plan to Protect® child safety workshop is made available through Saga during the training session we run for all volunteers in June.  Please CLICK HERE for the 2017 Volunteer Application.

WHAT TO BRING & WHAT TO KNOW
Saga Sports Camp has all sorts of adventures happening every week of the summer. For that reason you can check back here each week to know if there is anything special you need to bring.

There are some things that you will need to bring every week, so make sure that when you arrive at camp you have your bagged lunch & snack, you hat & sunscreen, comfortable shoes to run around in, a waterbottle and whatever else you need to play sports all day.

Saga Sports Camp runs from 10am - 3pm each day, and there is supervised drop-off between 9:30 - 10am, and pick-up from 3 - 3:30pm. Please drop off and pick up your children within these times.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
How early in the morning can I drop my child off?
Registration begins at 9:30am each morning and there will be supervised drop-off from 9:30 - 10am. Before 9:30am we will be preparing and setting up for the day and so our Sports Camp staff will not be able to provide supervision for campers.  Before 9:30am we offer Extended Care from 7:30am (and from 3:30-5:30pm).  For and additional fee you can sign your child up for Extended Care.

What type of activities do the campers do during the day?

Each week at Saga Sports Camp is filled with a variety of activities, mostly related to the sport of the week.  Usually we will spend the mornings wotking on Skill Development and Training Drill Rotations, an then in the afternoons we will participate in tournaments within camp.  In addition to this, we spend one afternoon a week swimming and occasionally participate in games or trips with the Saga Day Camp.

How old do I need to be to volunter at Camp?

We have volunteer of all different ages. We are always looking for high school stuents, university or college students, or even parents who would be willing to give one of their weeks of the summer to volunteer at camp (you can volunteer for more than one week if you want).

My child has just finished grade one. Can they come to sports camp?
Unfortunately we are only able to provide camp programming for children who have completed grade two at SAGA Sports Camp.  However, SAGA Day Camp does provide programming for children who just finished grade one.

Is there anything for students who have completed kindergarten?
Unfortunately we can only provide camp for children who have completed Grade One (day camp) and Grade Two (sports camp) due to the higher leader: child ratio required for children who are in kindergarten and younger.

Do all of the staff have police checks?

Saga requires police checks for all staff who are over 16 years of age. We also do references for anyone who leads or volunteers at Saga, whether they are staff or volunteer.

Can I get a refund if my child cannot attend Camp?

Please give us 3 weeks notice if you're child will not be attending the week they are registered in order to receive your money back. After 3 weeks, no money will be refunded, although your child can transfer weeks up until the start of camp.
